Welcome!

House of One People is a sanctuary for philosophical dialogue and creative expression on an interconnected planet.

Jan. 13, 2014 –  This planet is a house of one people – whether we like it or not, whether believe it or not.  Genetically speaking we are all related, and ecologically and economically speaking we are all interconnected.  Genetics shows that everyone on the planet has common ancestors – in all likelihood a single woman -- in Africa many thousands of years ago.  And in terms of our home planet and the environment we live in: the air, the water, the earth, and our closely interwoven economic and social fabric, there is no escaping the fact that we highly interconnected. The truth is that we depend on each other. That's not some kind of fairy tale; the actual reality is that we are one large family, sharing one planet.  No matter how much we ignore this, and try to act as if we were completely separate from each other and unrelated, we cannot make this untrue. In the words of a classic children’s song by Ruth Pelham:

            We’re all a family under one sky;

            We’re a family under one sky.

            We’re all a family under one sky;

            We’re a family under one sky.

Like all families we have our conflicts and problems to resolve.  Now that may seem like a understatement, but though our conflicts are many, I do not believe we have any other viable choice than making it our priority to resolve our current conflicts, and heal the wounds of past conflicts.  If we want a livable planet in the long term, I cannot see any other way.  Welcome to the House of One People.
